The Club welcomed a group of 30 Girl Guides from the Long Lawford and Newbold units to give the sport of bowls a try. The majority of the group were Brownies (7-10 years old) with some Guides (10-14 years old) after a short session with volunteers from the club showing them the basics of bowling they split into groups to take on three out of six challenges.
The challenges ranged from two forms of target bowls, bowling to a get the wood into a specific area, controlling weight to knock the bails off a cricket type stumps, getting close to a set point and delivering the jack and then bowling a wood to it. The evening was filled with laughter as the girls had an enjoyable time and when asked said that they would come again if the session was ran again. Comments are closed.
