Fourteen teams took to the green for the clubs gala in aid of the Brain Tumour Charity. A good afternoon of bowling went down to the wire to crown the winners.
Four teams finished the first round of games with nine points “Lan Mike”, “Maybes”, “Bilton Babes” and “Nicola Hood and Her Merry Men”. A point behind the lead pack were “Colin's Corinthians”, “Nomads” and “The Newbies”. “Bilton Babes” picked up another nine in their second game to lead heading into the break, one point behind them in joint second were “Maybes”, “Colin's Corinthians” and “Nomads”. Six points off top spot in fifth place were “The M T Heads”. A good final game saw “Colin's Corinthians” aka Martin Sandwell, Sue Edwards, Colin Loveitt and Tony Nisbet take top spot with twenty seven points. “Bilton Babes” had to settle for second place, two behind the winners and one ahead of “Nomads” in third. Fourth place with twenty two points were “Aija Came To”, one point clear of “Maybes” and “The M T Heads” in joint fifth. The club is introducing a change to coaching, to offer the best training there will now be 6 week courses to allow people to learn together. The aim of the course is to build skills and confidence so that new bowlers will feel more confident about taking part in other events the club offers including leagues.
The six week course will need to be pre-booked to avoid overbooking and a £15 fee paid in advance. The club will also be selling gift vouchers so you can give the gift of coaching to a friend or family member. Courses are due to start on the following dates: 12th November 2022 7th January 2023 18th February 2023 The club starting a triples league for Wednesday afternoons (2:30pm to 4:30pm) but with a twist, instead of being purely ends based the league will be played as sets, this means that there is always the chance for points even if you get off to a bad start.
This is open to members and non-members, league entries to be received by 8th November with the league to start on 16th November. |
