Myton Hospice v Air Ambulance Charity Match

Rugby Thornfield Indoor Bowls Club played host to a charity match featuring eight teams, four representing Myton Hospice and four Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. Each team played four games of seven ends, one against each of the teams playing for the opposite charity. Three points were given for a win, one for a draw with a bonus point for each end won.

After the first round of games WNAA had won three and drawn the other giving them an overall 26-13 lead. With the first half of the match completed Myton took one win but WNAA again had won three, the overall advantage now eleven.

The teams representing Myton Hospice could again only manage one win to WNAA’s three, the scores 68-51. After the final round of games Myton could only manage another win but just missed out on a second. Myton Hospice finished with 64 points but the overall winners were Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance with 95 points, if the match had gone purely on shots the result would’ve been 136-77 to WNAA.

With three wins out of four Carol Ryan, Keith Oakes, Stuart Miles and Ian Box were the highest scoring rink for Myton Hospices, making them the Myton Champions. The Air Ambulance Champions with four wins out of four went to Colin Knapp, Pat & Mandy Dahlgren and Chris Knapp.

A total of £385 (rounded up to nearest £5) was raised, which means each charity will receive £192.50 towards their excellent work.
