Competition Winners 2025/26

Due to the players involved in multiple finals the club finals weekend became a club finals week. Although spread out those present were treated to some excellent bowling and thrilling finals.
Neither Tony Nisbett or Doug Pitcher could get a solid lead in the final of the Mens Championship with game reaching thirteen all. A good three ends saw Pitcher picking up a pair of singles and a double before Nisbett won the next end with a single. Nisbett took the mat up to see if he could shake things up, a double, single and treble took him into a 19-17 lead. Pitcher took the next end but Tony Nisbett secured the two shots he needed to win an epic tussle 21-18. While Karen Gregor scored a first end double it was Maureen Edwards that set the early running in the Ladies Singles as she raced away 13-3. Gregor closed the gap slightly, the score now 14-6 but Edwards shut her out to secure the 21-6 victory.
Carol Ryan took the first four ends of her Ladies Two Woods Singles final against Maureen Edwards with singles to take an early lead. Edwards fought back to level the scores on seven all and then scored nine shots without reply to lead 16-7. Ryan scored a brace of doubles but Edwards took two doubles of her own to be within one shot of victory. Ryan did her best to close the gap but could only claim three singles before Maureen Edwards took the single she needed to win 21-14. Tony Nisbett took a double on the first end but Pete Dymond responded with three singles to take an early lead in the Mens Two Woods Singles. Both players took a single and double before Nisbett reached ten shots with a single and brace of doubles, the score now 10-8. A pair of singles and doubles took Nisbett further ahead before the players again traded shots, Nisbett now 19-11 up. Dymond scored three singles before Nisbett moved onto 20 shots. Dymond could only take another couple of shots before Tony Nisbett took the shot he needed to win 21-16.
Barry Weston and Tony Nisbett got off to a good start with a three and four in the first two ends of their Mens Pairs final against Greg Sampson and Steve Smith. Smith replied with a treble and single but a trio of doubles and four took Nisbett thirteen shots clear with eight ends played. Sampson & Smith got back into the game with a double, five and brace of singles, cutting the deficit to four with six ends to play. A pair of singles with one dropped in return took Weston & Nisbett five clear with three ends to play, a treble left Sampson & Smith needing eight off the last two ends, they picked up a single on the penultimate end and shook hands. Barry Weston & Tony Nisbett winning 22-15. A close battle saw Chris Harding & Yvonne Bromfield and Jean Barnett & Maureen Edwards reach ten ends all square on six each. Four ends later Barrett & Edwards had moved four shots clear, Harding & Bromfield halved the deficit the next end but a single and treble left them needing six in the last end to force an extra end, they could only take a single. Jean Barnett & Maureen Edwards winning 15-10.
A couple of early fours helped Jean Barnett, Becky Lever & Maureen Edwards lead by seven after five ends in their Ladies Triples final against Chris Harding, Sarah Blackshaw & Yvonne Bromfield.
