Guide Dog Gala 2016

3/10/2016

Thornfield kicked off their charity gala series under the watchful eye of a trainee guide dog, wondering why he wasn’t allowed to chase the bowls, raising funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Twelve teams took to the carpet looking for early season glory.

With one round of games played five teams lead the way on 6 points, they were
“Take Heart”, “You Bears”, “Sue’s Boys”, “Peaky Blinders” and “Colin’s Four”. “X Rail” completed the group of first game winners but were a point behind. Heading into the midway break “X Rail” had taken the lead with 13 points, one ahead of “Take Heart”, “Peaky Blinders” and “Sue’s Boys” in joint second. In joint fifth were “Four Dog Paws”, “BBBC”, “You Bears” and “Colin’s Fours”.

After three rounds
“X Rail” still lead, one point clear of “Sue’s Boys” who in turn were a point ahead of “Peaky Blinders”. “BBBC” were fourth with fifth being shared by “Four Dog Paws” and “You Bears”. Last round victories saw “Sue’s Boys” and “Peaky Blinders” both leapfrog “X Rail”, “Sue’s Boys” (Nigel Malka, Sue and Jim Dean) took the crown with 25 points, “Peaky Blinders” one point behind while “X Rail” had to settle for third on 22 points. Fourth place was shared by “Four Dog Paws” and “Take Heart”.
