Xmas Fun Gala for Under 25s Section 2014

29/12/2014

Thornfield held their final gala of 2014, this time raising funds for their under 25s section. Twelve teams took to the carpet for a bit of fun between Christmas and the New Year.

After the first round of games “Milk & Alcohol” had made a perfect start, a point behind were “Rail Roaders”, “McJacksons” and “The 4 Tinkerbells” in joint second, while “3 Wisemen & an ex virgin” completed the top five another point behind. Heading into the halftime break “Milk & Alcohol” still led the way, with “The 4 Tinkerbells” a point behind. Three points further back were “McJacksons” in third with “Baa Humbug”, “Rail Roaders” and “Park Drunkards” in joint fourth.

An auction of soft drink packs and the sale of hot dogs helped bring in some more funds for the under 25s and the teams retook the carpet full refreshed. Two points separated “Milk & Alcohol” in first and “The 4 Tinkerbells” in second. “Baa Humbug” and “Park Drunkards” were tied for third and joint fifth were “McJacksons” and “3 Wisemen & an ex virgin”. With the final bowl delivered two teams had 25 points, so total shots scored became the deciding factor. Perhaps it was fitting that the team containing three under 25s, including arguably the cream of the youth development process in both Rugby and Warwickshire, had that all important extra shot. So “Milk & Alcohol”, Abbie Ward, Tom Ward, Jamie Lea Winch and Darren Ward took the title ahead of “The 4 Tinkerbells” (Mandy Dahlgren, Pat Dahlgren, Yvonne Bromfield and Maureen Edwards). “Baa Humbug” were third while in joint fourth were “McJacksons” and “Park Drunkards”.
