PSP Association Gala 2016

11/1/2016

Thornfields first gala of 2016 was in aid of the PSP Association, this charity is dedicated to helping people with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Cortico Basal Degeneration. Both those conditions are terminal degenerative brain diseases with no known treatment. With the club also playing in both the Wessex League and Under 25s Double Rink on the same day the field was limited to twelve teams.

With the first round of games completed “Knapp Jacks” and “X Rail” were in joint first, one point ahead of “Speckled Hen”, “Four Skips” and “Bob and the Three Graces” in joint third. “Four Skips” took control of top spot heading into the midway break. “Knapp Jacks” were second, “PSP” third and “Pic n Mix” fourth. In joint fifth were “Speckled Hen”, “X Rail”, “Oliver's Army” and “Bob and the Three Graces”.

After the third set of games were finished “Pic n Mix”, “PSP” and “Knapp Jacks” were tied in first, a quirk of the fixtures meant “Pic n Mix” and “PSP” would meet in their final game. A couple of points back in fourth were “X Rail”, who in turn were a point ahead of “Oliver's Army”. “Knapp Jacks” (Chris Knapp, Alan Jackson, Michael Jackson and Colin Knapp) scored a perfect eight points to take the top spot with 25 points. “Mix n Match” were second on 23 points, 22 points secured “X Rail” third spot. “Four Skips” finished fourth on 20 points, one point ahead of fifth place “PSP”.
